And what’s worse, there’s no seniority at the sports club — just because you know all the trainers by first name doesn’t do a damn thing for your spot in the line for the rowing machine.

But don’t let the crowds of grunting, weight-dropping, selfie-snappers get you down. Stay strong with the confidence that most will be gone soon. A recent study looking at 5,240 members of a fitness club in Rio de Janeiro found 63 percent dropped out before month three. If you can grit your teeth and bear it, you’ll have your favorite bench back in no time.
