Kovac recommends getting enough sleep and exercise. In fact, he checks for sleep apnea in patients, since “lots of men with low testosterone have sleep apnea and benefit from a sleep study and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) treatment,” he says.

“High levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, are associated with low testosterone,” Rumsey says. “So it’s important to find ways to manage stress in order to keep cortisol levels down.”

Boosting testosterone levels isn’t always as simple as popping the same pill that helped your buddy or slapping on a patch. Low testosterone can be caused by different factors in different people. If you’re worried about your testosterone level, make an appointment with a urologist or endocrinologist who specializes in men’s health.
