The benefits of eating earlier in the day.
Looking at the eating habits of more than 400 Spaniards over a five-month period, researchers found that those who ate lunch – their biggest meal of the day – before 3 p.m. lost up to 25 percent more weight than those who ate later. Lead study author Frank Scheer says he expects the same would apply to dinner, typically the biggest meal of the day for Americans. This is the first long-term, large-scale study to demonstrate a relationship between meal timing and weight loss, but Scheer is unwilling to specify when is too late: "The main point of this study is that it's not just what you eat, it's when you eat. And it's not the exact hour that matters; it's trying to eat earlier in general."
