Insound.com Concert Posters
Online music purveyor Insound.com sells more than 300 limited-edition silk-screened concert posters, many signed by the designers, such as this My Morning Jacket piece created by Utah artist Travis Bone. Get your music fiend friend one of these wall hangings, then hint that maybe it’s time for him to toss the ratty tour T-shirt. [from $20; insound.com]
Gravity Leather Wine Bottle Holder
Want to make an oenophile happy? Give him a case of Lafite Rothschild Bordeaux, vintage 2000. If $1,500 isn’t in your budget, give him a great way to show off his favorite bottle. The self-balancing Gravity Leather Wine Bottle Holder puts physics to good use by turning any kind of vino into a conversation piece. [$25; homewetbar.com]
Verterra Plates
We wouldn’t normally suggest giving disposable plates as a gift, but we guarantee that friends with an eco bent will appreciate these dishes from VerTerra. They’re made from fallen palm leaves that are sprayed, steam-molded, and UV-sterilized, yet they can still handle being nuked or put in the oven. And when the party’s over, they’ll biodegrade in the compost heap. [from $5 for eight; verterra.com]
Joby Gorillapod
Thanks to prehensile legs composed of a bunch of rubberized ball-and-socket joints, this bendable tripod can steady a point-and-shoot on flat surfaces as well as defy gravity by hanging a camera from the side of a streetlamp or tree branches. Since it has the ability to let photographers take shots from nearly any vantage they can imagine, maybe Joby should have called it the Guerrillapod. [$25: joby.com]
Dublin Dog Collars
Collar funk: a malady suffered by dog owners after their pet’s neckwear has converted sweat and grime into unsavory odor. The solution is a Dublin Dog collar. Inspired by the band on the inventor’s Ironman-style watch, it’s made from nonporous rubber polymers that resist not only fading and wear, but also moisture and bacteria. [$24; dublindog.com]
