For a unique Caribbean experience, I went to St. Thomas with Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) to help put roofs back on houses, after Hurricane Marilyn. I got to know some residents of Charlotte Amalia and saw things on the islands that tourists never see. The rates were good, too: free food, free bed and bath.
Anyone wanting to see the Caribbean in a less self-absorbed fashion may want to think about helping others….talk about “guaranteed to deliver something you’ve never experienced before..” !
