However, Capcom has been known to experiment from time to time, like with the recently released Pragmata and Okami back in 2006. However, Capcom's weirdest, most experimental game is one that is often forgotten--and it turns 21 years old today.

Today, June 9, 2026, is the 21st anniversary of the release of Killer 7 on the Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2 in Japan. The game would later be brought to PC in 2018.

Killer 7 follows a strange noir-style plot that sees the player switch between seven different assassins who are all physical manifestations of one character named Harman Smith. During the game, players are tasked with carrying out various assassinations for the U.S. government, and a scheme about how Japan works within U.S. politics.

In gameplay, Killer 7 follows an odd design and control scheme, with players only able to move forward and turn around. Otherwise, the characters follow a set path. Players can then freely aim their guns to defeat enemies.

According to Metacritic, Killer 7 sits at a lukewarm 74 metascore, with many critics divided on the game's complex story, dark tone, simple controls, and general uniqueness.

Since its initial release (and the re-release on PC, which has made it more available for modern audiences), the game has garnered a cult following and is often cited as a video game as an art form, and is widely regarded as one of the most unique video games ever made, despite its divisiveness.

On July 24, 2025, Hogan died of an acute myocardial infarction, also known as a heart attack, after collapsing at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Medical records showed that Hogan had also suffered from chronic lymphocytic leukemia and atrial fibrillation.

In their final report on Hogan's death, the Clearwater Police Department said there was no evidence of criminal wrongdoing and that the WWE legend died of natural causes, per the Associated Press.

Brooke, however, has taken issue with the police department's report and how they treated her during the investigation. She called them out in an interview with Bubba the Love Sponge (h/t Us Weekly):

"I think my fans and I think people know me well enough to know that I have integrity," Brooke said. "I try to keep my mouth shut. I’ve tried to stay out of this stuff, but dear Clearwater Police: Keep my (expletive) name out of your mouth. You have not treated me like family. You have not helped me. You have not been in touch with me like you should have been."

In a separate interview with TMZ, Brooke said the police department's public statement felt like "a slap in the face." Brooke added that she wasn't allowed to view the autopsy's results and questioned why her father's personal physician signed his death certificate.

"There's been a lot of inconsistencies from the BEGINNING," she said. "I think CWPD missed the mark by not IMMEDIATELY making this a big investigation and not questioning everything and everybody out the gate. This should have been treated as a taped off, locked down, thorough investigation from day one."

There's a catch, though. The list was limited to the best screenplays written before 2005.

However, a supplemental list was later released for the 21st century.

The Writer's Guild of America Asked Its Members to List the Best Screenplays Ever Written

According to No Film School, the list dates back to 2005, when The Writer's Guild of America (WGA) "sent out ballots to its members asking them to list up to 10 of their favorite produced screenplays."

What were the rules? "Any film, past or present, English-language or otherwise, was eligible. This caused a long debate as the votes were tallied. What resulted was a list that ranked the top 101 screenplays of all time written before 2005," added No Film School.

Casablanca's script is highly regarded because of its timeless themes of sacrifice for a cause, its romantic plot, and its iconic lines. Think "Here's looking at you, kid" and "We'll always have Paris."

Of course, the legendary actors who filled out the cast helped make those lines iconic.

The Writer's Guild of America Later Released Another List for the Best Screenplays of the 21st Century

In 2021, the Writer's Guild of America tried to make room for modern screenplays by releasing another list of the best screenplays of the 21st century "so far."

The top movie on that list? Get Out from 2017.

The other movies on that top 10 were, in order: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; The Social Network; Parasite; No Country for Old Men; Moonlight; There Will Be Blood; Inglourious Basterds; Almost Famous; and Memento.

More specifically, the genre is steeped in classical white masculinity with the likes of John Wayne or Clint Eastwood dominating the screen. But that all changed when Nicholas Ray delivered an iconic take on the Western.

Johnny Guitar broke the mold and delivered the greatest Western movie of all time, according to IndieWire.

'Johnny Guitar' Takes Top Spot

Johnny Guitar took the top spot thanks to its efforts to subvert the genere.

"So maybe that’s why cinema’s most surprising, unique, unforgettable Western is one that throws out all of that baggage and gives the audience something completely new, something that’s never been done before — or, really, since," IndieWire wrote.

"It’s the Western as a fairy tale, almost, an extravagant and poetic and terrifying melodrama coursing with lust, desire, hate, and despair. The film isn’t a particularly big production, setting most of its action in Vienna’s cavernous saloon. And yet it feels gigantic, a movie so distinct, imaginative, and affecting that it achieves epic status. Other Westerns may be more action-packed or gritty, but no Western cuts so deeply and singularly as Johnny Guitar."

What Is 'Johnny Guitar'?

Nicholas Ray directed the 1954 hit that had a solid performance at the box office, but found greater appeal in Europe, with iconic directors Jean-Luc Goddard and Francois Truffaut raving about the Western.

"On the outskirts of town, the hard-nosed Vienna (Joan Crawford) owns a saloon frequented by the undesirables of the region, including Dancin' Kid (Scott Brady) and his gang," the synopsis if the film from Rotten Tomatoes reads.

"Another patron of Vienna's establishment is Johnny Guitar (Sterling Hayden), a former gunslinger and her lover. When a heist is pulled in town that results in a man's death, Emma Small (Mercedes McCambridge), Vienna's rival, rallies the townsfolk to take revenge on Vienna's saloon -- even without proof of her wrongdoing."

The classic racked up a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Pitt earned critical acclaim, winning five Emmys after its first season. With season 2, the medical drama, set during one hour of a shift in each episode, blew up online even further. Many of the more internet-savvy actors were forced to take time off due to the intensity of their Pitt fame.  

Ball, who plays Frank Langdon, a resident fresh out of rehab in the second season, was featured in one of Variety’s“Actors on Actors” interviews. He was paired with Love Story’s Paul Anthony Kelly, who asked about filming The Pitt and whether Ball had seen any memes or theories about the show.  

Ball responded, “Coming out of Season 1, there was a lot of temptation to engage. People are paying attention for the first time and they have all of these spinoff theories…as that public swell continued to grow, it got intense. I realized the necessity of boundaries and putting up walls and maintaining privacy. It can get really scary out there.” Kelly agreed that “sometimes it’s best not to know those things,” about fans’ opinions.

Hatosy also gave an interview earlier today that revealed his approach to his character, Jack Abbott. Hatosy, who has famously interacted with fans online, especially on X, explained that he has “had to kind of step back. Because sometimes it goes into these weird places where if fans disagree about a character, they start to turn on each other. That is not what this is supposed to be.” Hatosy told Variety, “All through my career, I’ve had a pretty good relationship with social media, but now, seeing how all this is unfolding, I’m kind of reevaluating what that looks like.”  

Previously, Hatosy joked about the popular fan pairing between his and Ganesh’s character, Samira Mohan, saying “just another manic Mohabbot Monday.” In the same interview, he explained that Abbott’s relationship with Mohan was discussed and very evident to him. Hatosy expressed sadness that Ganesh would not be in Season 3 to continue the relationship.

The announcement that Dr. Mohan would not be in Season 3 prompted Ganesh to take a social media break. She has since been back online, even commenting about Obsession in early June. After the news broke, she received an overwhelming outpouring of support from fans. She told Variety, “I saw my name was trending on Twitter, and I was like, ‘Gotta put the phone down and go outside.’ So, I haven’t really been keeping track of it…I’ve honestly just been surprised at how much people love the character and saw so much of themselves in her, and that’s what I’m going to miss.” Her departure from The Pitt has been controversial among fans, who think Mohan's decision to move on is inconsistent with her character.

The Pitt is not the only project these actors have lined up. Hatosy just starred in the horror comedy sequel Ready or Not 2: Here I Come alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar. Ganesh also said there were projects in the pipeline. On Broadway, Ball has also taken on an exciting new role in the revival of Becky Shaw, playing Andrew Porter. Although Ball was not nominated, the play received two Tony nominations and won one last night.

The Pitt has been renewed for Season 3, which will likely premiere in January 2027. Season 2 is available to stream now on HBO Max.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona home in the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 1. Authorities believe it was a targeted kidnapping.

What Happens Inside Your Body When You Eat at 2 A.M.?

Scientists have known for years that your body runs on a 24-hour circadian rhythm. But your brain isn't the only thing that keeps time. Your gut has its own internal clocks that help regulate digestion, nutrient absorption, and bowel movements.

In the study, researchers tracked several types of intestinal cells in mice. When the animals ate on their normal schedule, those cells stayed in sync. But when researchers forced them to eat during their usual sleep hours, something changed.

Researchers Found One Gut Cell That Refuses to Change Its Schedule

Most of the intestinal cells adjusted to the new eating schedule. One important group of cells did not. These cells, called interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs), help move food through the digestive tract. While the other cells shifted their clocks, ICCs stayed on their original schedule, creating a mismatch that lasted for weeks.

Researchers believe the same thing may happen in people who regularly eat at times that don't match their body's natural rhythms. "Understanding how intestinal circadian clocks become misaligned may ultimately guide strategies involving meal timing, circadian-based therapies, or dietary interventions to improve gastrointestinal and metabolic health," said study co-author Yuuki Obata, Ph.D.

Why Shift Workers Are More Likely to Have Digestive Problems

Because ICCs help control how food moves through the intestines, researchers think this internal mismatch could interfere with digestion and gut function. That may help explain why shift workers, frequent travelers, and people with irregular schedules often report more gastrointestinal issues than those who keep consistent routines.

The findings also add to a growing body of research suggesting that when you eat can influence your health just as much as what you eat.

What It Means for Your Gut Health Starting Tonight

While more research is needed in humans, the takeaway is simple: Try to eat meals at roughly the same times each day and avoid making late-night eating a regular habit.

Keeping your meals aligned with your body's natural clock may help keep your gut's clocks aligned too—and that could be good news for your digestion, metabolism, and overall health.

Critically, reviews were mixed, with some critics lambasting the film for its depiction of violence. At the time, spaghetti Westerns were excoriated for failing to adhere to the morals of traditional Hollywood Westerns. Thankfully, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly was better received in retrospect. It left an indelible impact on pop culture.

Time Out praises Leone's seminal work for being "single-mindedly dedicated to just telling a damn good yarn." It adds that one is "always knocked back by how much there is to rediscover" during rewatches, and that it "works so astonishingly well on the surface that digging any deeper doesn't just feel pointless, but ever so slightly wrong."

But should you really be dumping creatine powder in your mouth and calling it a day? Experts answer that question with a hard no.

"I don't recommend dry scooping any supplements, despite the popularity of this practice on TikTok," says Melissa Boufounos, CHN, sports nutritionist and owner of MB Performance Nutrition near Ottawa, ON. "It's always best practice to follow the manufacturer's directions as that is the way the supplement was intended to be used." 

Not only is dry scooping risky, but it also offers no clear benefits. To help you push back against the trending advice and stick to the safe, recommended way to take your creatine, we talked to nutrition experts to explain the realities of dry scooping.

What is Creatine?

Creatine is a compound made from the amino acids arginine, glycine, and methionine. Your body produces it naturally, and you also get small amounts from foods, including meat and fish. Close to 95 percent of the creatine in your body is stored in skeletal muscle, and taking supplemental creatine can help your muscles regenerate ATP at a higher rate, which fuels short, anaerobic, high-intensity movements like sprinting and weightlifting. 

In addition to muscle function, creatine has been studied for a number of other health benefits, which include: 

• Increased exercise capacity (more reps, heavier weight)
• Increased lean body mass and strength
• Improved blood lipid levels
• Reduced bone loss in older adults
• Improved effectiveness of some antidepressants
• Improved cognitive function

Is Dry Scooping Creatine Bad? 

Creatine is, overall, a safe supplement for most people, but only when you follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

"Creatine is one of those supplements that has a lot of myths surrounding negative side effects," says Boufounos, from worries that it causes hair loss to misunderstandings about weight gain and kidney damage. "It doesn't help when people choose to ignore the directions on how to properly take creatine."

While the research doesn't show that you'll absorb less creatine from dry scooping, you won't absorb more either. Creatine monohydrate already has excellent bioavailability when it's mixed into a drink, so dry scooping won't increase how much your body actually uses—it just adds risk with zero upside.

What Are the Risks of Dry Scooping Creatine? 

While not everyone will experience negative effects of dry scooping every time they do it, the risks exist every time, and the more often you dry scoop, the more likely you are to experience a negative effect.

You Could Choke 

The most likely risk of dry scooping creatine is choking. "Creatine is a fine-grain powder, with relatively poor solubility," says Dustin Moore, PhD, RD. "That makes swallowing extra difficult, even if you then chase it with fluid." Most manufacturers recommend combining creatine powder with at least 8 ounces of liquid, which eliminates this risk. 

"It can also trigger a gag reflex, causing the fine particles to be breathed directly into the lungs," says Boufounos. Breathing in creatine particles could cause irritation and inflammation in your airways and, while rare, could lead to a more serious condition such as aspiration pneumonia. 

It Could Give You Diarrhea

Dry scooping creatine hasn't been studied directly, but it is known to cause digestive issues such as diarrhea and stomach upset, especially at higher, more concentrated doses. Because mixing creatine with water dilutes it before it passes through your digestive system, skipping that step delivers a concentrated bolus of powder that may be more likely to cause stomach discomfort. As undiluted creatine travels through your intestines, it's more likely to draw water into the intestines, which can trigger diarrhea. And if the powder passes through your system too quickly because of that upset, your body won't even absorb it, making the whole thing a waste of money.

You'll Contaminate Your Container

If you're not taking precautions when dry scooping, you may be turning your creatine container into a pool of bacteria. "The videos I’ve seen show people taking the scoop, putting it in their mouth to dump the creatine, and then putting the scoop back into the container," says Moore. "That’s a recipe for contaminating your creatine." This could lead to illness or infection down the road, as bacteria multiply in the powder.

Safer and More Effective Ways to Take Creatine

The most effective way to take creatine is to follow the manufacturer's directions, which often include mixing 3 to 5 grams of creatine monohydrate with 8 ounces of any drink you'd like, including water, juice, a smoothie, or even coffee. If your creatine powder is hard to dissolve, try mixing it with a hot beverage, which could help.

"However, it's best to drink it as quickly as possible, as creatine is only stable in hot temperatures for short periods of time," says Moore. 

So if you're dry scooping creatine because you don't like how it tastes in water, just mix it with something else. What you mix creatine with and even the time you take creatine matter less than the practice of taking it consistently. Taking three to five grams per day is considered safe for most adults and can help maintain optimal creatine levels for maximum benefit.

A 2022 systematic review and meta-analysis published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine found that adults who combined muscle-strengthening exercise with aerobic activity had a 40% lower risk of death from any cause compared with those who did neither. Researchers also found significant reductions in cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality when both forms of exercise were included in a weekly routine.

That growing body of evidence may explain why more lifters are finding ways to sneak cardio into their strength workouts. In a recent report, experts interviewed by The New York Times said combining resistance training and aerobic exercise may deliver greater longevity benefits than either approach alone.

Why Lifting Weights Alone May Not Deliver Maximum Longevity

The recent surge in resistance training isn't just about building bigger muscles. According to Dr. Julia Iafrate, a sports medicine physician at NYU Langone Health, who spoke NYT, lifting helps preserve muscle mass, reduce the risk of falls, and support long-term independence. It can also help improve blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and overall metabolic health.

Dr. Christopher Tanayan, a sports cardiologist at Northwell Health, told NYT that resistance training may lower the risk of diabetes, heart attack, stroke, and certain cancers. On its own, strength exercise may reduce the risk of death from any cause by about 15 percent, according to Dr. Iafrate's comments to NYT. That's impressive. But experts say it's only part of the longevity equation.

The Hidden Reason Cardio Still Matters After 40

"You're leaving something on the table, in terms of longevity," Dr. Tanayan told The New York Times. According to Dr. Tanayan, aerobic exercise challenges the heart and blood vessels in ways that make them more efficient over time. As cardiovascular fitness improves, the body becomes better at delivering oxygen to muscles and organs, supporting nearly every system in the body.

Kate Baird, a clinical exercise physiologist at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, offered a simple analogy in her interview with NYT. "It can look great on the outside," she said of the body, "but you can't forget that there's an engine inside." That engine matters. Aerobic exercise has consistently been linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in the United States.

Perhaps most compelling, Dr. Iafrate told NYT that combining strength training and aerobic exercise may reduce all-cause mortality risk by more than 40 percent. That's "astronomical," she said. "No peptide is going to get that for you. No biohacking is going to get that for you."

How Men Over 40 Are Sneaking Cardio Into Their Routines

The good news is that cardio doesn't have to mean long runs or hours on a treadmill. Dr. Anne Brady, a professor of kinesiology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, told NYT that short bouts of aerobic exercise can be integrated directly into strength workouts.

For busy adults, that might mean performing a few minutes on a bike before lifting, alternating strength exercises with jump rope intervals, or reducing rest periods between sets. Brady also highlighted circuit training, which alternates between strength and aerobic exercises with minimal rest. According to her comments to The New York Times, this approach challenges the cardiovascular system more effectively than traditional lifting alone.

How to Get More Cardio Without Adding Another Workout

If you're already lifting consistently, experts say you don't need to choose between strength and cardio.

Try one of these simple strategies:

• Walk briskly for 10 to 15 minutes before lifting.
• Finish workouts with five minutes of jump rope, rowing, or high knees.
• Use circuit-style workouts with minimal rest between exercises.
• Add short "exercise bursts" throughout the day, such as stair climbing or fast-paced walking.
• Pick up your pace during daily walks to elevate your heart rate.

Bottom line: Strength training helps build the body, but cardio helps power the engine. According to experts interviewed by NYT, combining the two may be one of the most effective ways to improve longevity, heart health, and overall fitness as you age.

Maddox, a self-described "broken bmw/porsche enthusiast," notes that the car is actually not in such a terrible condition.

It's unclear when the car arrived at the junkyard, but he notes that "all the good stuff has been taken." He didn't come away empty-handed, though, as he walked away with the fender.

"I think a lot of the cars from the show are not exactly built with the highest caliber, so I'm not entirely surprised to see this in the junkyard," Maddox says. "But it's kind of sad. So, a little bit of TV history going down the drain, but I get to keep a little piece of it. "

Netflix is taking that iconic animated series and remaking it with a real dog. And now that streaming giant is giving fans a first look. Netflix released a teaser trailer that shows the real-life pooch playing the legendary canine. However, the streamer was blistered online by fans, who don't think the Netflix dog looks like Scooby-Doo.

"That is not Scooby Doo," responded a fan. "How do you get Scooby's breed wrong?" another fan wrote. "Scooby Doo is supposed to be a Great Dane. Only idiots can mess up this badly," another fan responded.

It's not only the dog that is real in the remake. All of the characters are played by human actors.

"In the new teaser above, Scooby-Doo: Origins’ titular pup — the franchise's first-ever real-dog Scooby-Doo — sniffs around the woods until he spots Shaggy Rogers (Tanner Hagen) wandering nearby," Netflix wrote in a release.

"Then, at the tail-end of the clip, viewers get their first glimpse of the live-action, floppy-eared canine in his iconic teal collar as he’s cradled by his new best friend. And yes, he’s every bit the good boy fans hoped he’d be."

Added Netflix, "For more than 50 years, Scooby-Doo has been a pop-culture powerhouse. The franchise has spawned three theatrical films, more than a dozen animated series, and nearly 40 animated home entertainment movies. But Scooby-Doo: Origins marks the first time Scooby-Doo will appear as a real dog. Can we get a round of a-paws for the new pup?"

The heartbreaking story unfolded in central China, where Chutou's owner, Guo, took to social media to share that his dog had gone missing. According to the South China Morning Post, Guo offered a reward to anyone who could help him find Chutou, whose adventures alongside Guo garnered him more than 1.5 million followers on social media.

According to the outlet, Guo had been traveling last month and left Chutou in the care of his father, who brought Chutou with him to work in the family's fields. That's when Chutou went missing, prompting Guo to cut his trip short and return home to help find his dog.

Reports say that surveillance footage showed two strangers taking the dog on an electric bike. Eventually, Guo tracked down the person who took the dog, and that person reportedly said that they mistook Chutou for a stray. Guo wasn't buying the explanation, because he said Chutou had a collar and a tracker, and the dog was on the family's farm when it was nabbed.

The South China Morning Post goes on to report that the person sold the dog to a restaurant that sells dog meat for 180 yuan, or $27. Guo had been told that the dog was purchased and eaten.

As if that wasn't horrific enough, Guo reportedly said that the man offered no apology.

"The dog is dead, so stop making a fuss," Guo reportedly stated that that's what the man told him.

Guo also confronted a restaurant worker, hoping to retrieve Chutou's remains or fur, but Guo was told that "the hair was thrown in the [trash] long ago."

The South China Morning Post reports that the case has since sparked renewed debate over China's dog meat trade.

Red flag warnings abound

In the four aforementioned states, a "Red Flag Warning" has been issued for multiple territories. That is the most serious type of fire alert the NWS can put in place.

"A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly," the NWS says. "A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior."

What to know for each state

In Colorado, the Red Flag Warning is for Fire Zones 240, 241, 242, 243, 244, 245, 246, 247, 248, 249, 250 and 251 from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Meanwhile, there are Red Flag warnings in place throughout southern Nevada into northwestern Arizona through Tuesday evening.

Some of the areas in those two states under the alert include the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Kaibab Plateau, Marble and Glen Canyons, Grand Canyon Country, Coconino Plateau, Navajo Nation in Arizona, Little Colorado River Valley, and the Mogollon Rim.

Finally, in Utah, there are Red Flag warnings in effect in the following areas:

• Fire Weather Zone 492 Central Utah West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 495 Color Country West Desert and Fire Weather Zone 497 Mojave Desert through 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Some arena anthems have become a favorite among both fans and athletes, with some stadium-filling songs giving the perfect final kick of energy to set the mood. One song, while a commonly-chosen track across all major sports events, has been named as one of the greatest National Basketball Association (NBA) floor-shakers of all time by writers at sports outlet Yardbarker.

"Seven Nation Army," the alt-rock song by faux brother-and-sister duo The White Stripes, comprised of then-married couple Jack and Meg White, debuted at number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in February 2003. While this doesn't exactly scream basketball championship on paper, the iconic anthem, one that eventually became the most recognizable alt song of the 00s, quickly became a favorite among NBA fans.

The song's simplistic yet catchy bassline (which, despite common belief, was played on a guitar using pitch shift), paired with a rough 120 beats per minute rhythm, makes it an easy choice for fans to stamp and clap along to — even if they don't know the words, having somehow escaped the musical fixture of countless sports games over the last 23 years.

Its lyrics, delivered with electric conviction by frontman Jack White, detail a hellbent narrator bragging about their unbridled power in the face of impossible opposition. Paired with its unmatched rhythm, expertly delivered by Meg White on drums and Jack White on guitar, was a perfect mindset for both players and fans under immense pressure — so much so, that the Miami Heat have been using the song as an intro for their starting lineup at their home games for well over a decade.

On the song's popularity at sports games across the world, Jack theorized, "You could get into music theory about it or something, but there's almost some kind of universal melodic interval of some kind that triggers to people."

For the rock legend, the song manages to penetrate the energy and emotion of sports fans, no matter where they're from or what language they speak, comparing it, strangely enough, to folk music. "What I think also is, possibly more in the realm of folk music about it," he continued, adding that "[it] might be that people are chanting melody and not singing words, which is strange."

By now, the world has seen footage of a private Gulfstream jet making an emergency landing at an airport in La Romana, a southern coastal town about an hour outside of Punta Cana.

The video shows the jet struggling before crashing. Airport workers on the ground looked on in dismay as a massive fireball erupted when the plane crashed. Reports say that two U.S. pilots were killed in the crash. There were no passengers aboard the jet.

But it has now come to light that the private jet was bound for Texas to pick up MLB legend Yadier Molina, who played 19 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals before he retired in 2022. Molina is a 10-time All-Star, two-time World Series champion, and a future Hall of Famer.

The private jet had departed from Puerto Rico, where Molina is from, and was supposed to land in the Dominican Republic to refuel before heading to Texas.

Molina took to social media to offer his condolences to the pilot's families.

"My condolences to the pilots and their family!” he wrote in Spanish on Instagram. "This plane was supposed to pick up my family and friends in Texas and bring us to Puerto Rico! It’s all so devastating."

The script was written by Scott as well as Jack Thorne, best known for Adolescence. The package, a list of selling points for the film that includes the director and any big actors who have signed on, hit the market Monday and is hoping a big studio will fight to claim it. Scott’s upcoming film, The Dog Stars, is being released by 20th Century later this year, but the studio ultimately passed on the film due to Disney’s competing pirate franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean, per Deadline.

This version of Treasure Island follows a young boy who discovers a map leading to buried treasure and faces the pirate Long John Silver as he journeys out to sea to find it. Scott and Thorne’s adaptation will be a new take on the old classic.

Robert Louis Stevenson created Treasure Island to entertain his son during a storm. The tale was based on Stevenson’s own travels. He eventually wrote and published the book in 1883, which became one of the most famous adventure stories of all time. Treasure Island put Stevenson on the map, and he would later write other well-known works, including Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The book has had other film adaptations, including Disney’s first live-action film, Treasure Island (1950), the animated spin on the tale, Treasure Planet, and the lighthearted Muppet Treasure Island.

Paramount+ UK also greenlit an adaptation of the book earlier this year. The series will star Hayley Atwell, David Oyelowo, Jack Huston, Tomer Capone, and Tom Sweet. Sweet will play the young protagonist Jim Hawkins with Oyelowo as Long John Silver. Deadline pointed out after the announcement that “it comes off the back of another high-profile adaptation, Lord of the Flies.” The Lord of the Flies limited series was written by Jack Thorne.

Jackman has recently starred in The Sheep Detectives as shepherd George Hardy. The mystery comedy currently has a 95% critic rating and 96% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. With an Emmy, Grammy, and Tony already in hand, Jackman may be vying for an Oscar from The Sheep Detectives or Treasure Island to secure his EGOT.

The Sheep Detectives is still in theaters and will be available on Prime later this year. There has been no expected release date for Treasure Island at this time.

Most People Aren’t Eating the Recommended Amount

The Dietary Guidelines recommend that adults consume about 1.5 cups of legumes per week, which can be divided into a half-cup serving three times a week. That’s not much, but most of us still fall short.

Eating beans also helps increase fiber, plant-based protein, and nutrients like potassium and B vitamins. Additionally, nearly 9 out of 10 Americans fail to meet the recommended fiber intake, which is 25 grams per day for women and 38 grams for men. Beans happen to be one of the richest sources of both soluble and insoluble fiber. And eating enough fiber supports better digestive health, regulates your blood sugar, and keeps you feeling full.

You can think of fiber like the “broom” that comes in to sweep out your gut, clearing out toxins, binding waste, and helping excrete excess hormones and cholesterol. Plus, eating enough fiber helps digestion run smoothly and keeps you regular.

Why I'm Eating More Beans Lately

As a dietitian, I already knew beans were good for you. But lately, I’ve been more intentional about eating them regularly, and here’s why:

Fiber Content

One of the biggest reasons I’ve been reaching for more beans is their impressive fiber content in a serving, especially soluble fiber. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel-like substance in the digestive tract, which helps lower LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, slows the absorption of sugar, and feeds beneficial gut bacteria. This can have a powerful impact on heart health, blood sugar control, and digestive regularity.

A half-cup of black beans delivers around 7 to 8 grams of fiber, putting a major dent in the recommended 25 to 38 grams per day. Research shows that diets high in fiber are linked to lower risks of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and colorectal cancer, yet most of us are still falling far short. Eating beans regularly is a simple and effective way to close that gap.

Plant-Based Protein

Beans are also a fantastic source of plant-based protein, with 7 to 9 grams per half-cup cooked serving, depending on the variety. This makes them especially valuable for vegetarians, vegans, or anyone looking to reduce their intake of animal protein. But it’s not just about protein quantity, it’s also about the total impact on health.

Studies have shown that replacing animal proteins with plant proteins like those found in legumes is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancers. Plus, plant-based proteins tend to come bundled with beneficial nutrients like fiber and antioxidants, rather than the saturated fat or cholesterol found in some animal products. Beans can help you boost your protein intake while supporting your long-term health goals.

Underrated Nutrition

Beans may not get the same spotlight as trendy superfoods, but they’re nutrient-dense powerhouses. In addition to fiber and protein, they contain a wide range of essential nutrients many Americans don’t get enough of—including folate, magnesium, potassium, iron, and B vitamins. They’re also rich in polyphenols and antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and inflammation.

These nutrients play a key role in everything from energy metabolism and red blood cell formation to nerve function and muscle health. Potassium, for example, helps balance sodium and support healthy blood pressure. Yet it’s one of the most commonly under-consumed nutrients in the U.S. In fact, it’s been labeled a “nutrient of concern” for Americans. Beans offer a budget-friendly, accessible way to fill those nutrient gaps and support whole-body health.

Tips to Add Beans to Your Diet

If you’re not used to eating beans, start small. And if you’re new to beans and concerned about bloating, try lentils or split peas first, and gradually increase your intake while drinking plenty of water. All legumes count here — some of the most common legumes you’ll find at the store include black beans, chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans, pinto beans, and edamame.

Here are a few easy, non-intimidating ways to get more into your meals:

• Toss them into salads or grain bowls for a satisfying boost.
• Blend into dips like hummus or white bean spread.
• Stir into pasta sauces or taco meat to stretch your protein.
• Add them to soups or stews for extra protein and fiber.
• Try bean-based snacks, like roasted chickpeas or lentil chips.
• Use canned beans for convenience and choose low-sodium or give them a rinse if you are looking for a low-salt option.

In the aftermath of Dutton Ranch Episode 5, Men's Journal caught up with Denton to get a sense of his time on the ranch, how he bulked up for the role, the scope of his other projects, and if he thinks Rip and Chet could've been allies in another life.

Do you think Chet and Rip could have been allies had life gone differently for each of them?

Chet left home when he was about 12 or 13, and had a rough life and was just finding ways to survive. The bunkhouse was the first feeling of a family he had. I definitely could've seen so many ways he and Rip's relationship could have played out. But I understand Rip's position as well. I understand how a job has to get done, and [Chet] wasn't doing that job to the standards it needed to be done. But he's not the bad guy. He doesn't see himself that way.

How did you find the voice of Chet and determine his backstory?

When we were at cowboy camp for a few weeks before the show started—riding and working with real cowboys—some of them had left home when they were 12 or 13. So, to sit and talk to them for a few weeks each morning about their experiences, it helped me find Chet pretty quickly. These cowboys are so authentic to who they are that I was able to just take on a lot of their qualities.

What was your relationship with Jai on set?

Jai's amazing. It's so inspirational working with him because he commits so hard, and I learned so much as an actor. Jai's got this energy that's so infectious. We're there to work, and the way he's able to switch it on is so incredible. And he stays in it. He doesn't just pop right out of it. When we're working and shooting, he's that guy. I learned so much as an actor just watching him.

What is Chet's connection to Rob-Will?

That's his closest friend. Rob-Will is Chet's compass. He tries to emulate him in some ways. It feels like it's the only family he has. He looks up to Rob-Will. He follows in his footsteps in so many ways, then not in others obviously. But I think he's really drawn to Rob-Will, and he wants the validation of Rob-Will. Chet will do whatever Rob-Will wants because he's so infatuated by him.

How'd you get in shape for Dutton Ranch? Any secrets you're willing to share?

About a year and a half ago, I was around 145 to 150 pounds, and that was pretty much my natural weight. For the roles I wanted, I knew I needed to put on weight and muscle. So, I just started going really hard in the gym and with my diet—doing everything I could to pack on weight. I got up to about 165 when the audition [for Dutton Ranch] came in, then for the next month or two, I continued to just pack it on.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's book on weightlifting was a huge help. I read a lot of it and nerded out about the science behind it all. I just wanted to be bigger. I was tired of feeling weak and thin.

Tell me a little bit about your docuseries, Built.

I love meeting people at thrift shops, antique stores, and auto shops—anywhere. I love exploring and getting to know a community. And while we were shooting [Dutton Ranch] in Fort Worth, I was doing that, getting to meet all these people who do really cool stuff. I've always done that my whole life. But when I was in Texas, I started to think that I could do something more with it. I'm obsessed with showcasing these craftsmen and what these people create with their hands because there's nothing cooler to me than that.

Why do you think modern entertainment has embraced the Western again?

I think people have gravitated towards actual reality. There's so much nuance; it's almost educational to a degree. I mean, if that's the life you live and you're a rancher, you know all these things, but I think a lot of people who aren't ranchers are learning that there are incredible amounts of skill that go into things that you have no idea about. And I think people are incredibly drawn to that. I know I am. Every day that we would shoot something, I would be asking the cowboys like, "Okay, and so how's this work?" It's so intricate.

What's next for you beyond Dutton Ranch?

After this show, I was like, "Oh, I just want to do cowboy shows for the rest of my life or movies or Westerns." It's the best job I've ever had. It's the most fun I've ever had on a job. There are a couple of things that are coming together right now as we speak, and I can't wait to do some more Westerns. I would do this genre for the rest of my life.

Dutton Ranch drops new episodes on Fridays on Paramount+.

35-year-old Mark Orabiyi was found with stab wounds in a garden last Friday, according to Metropolitan police. After being taken to a local hospital, Orabiyi was pronounced dead.

Orabiyi, known professionally as Talay Riley, worked with several of the world's premier pop and R&B artists during his career.

Orabiyi Worked With Major Musicians For Years

He won a Grammy for his work on H.E.R.'s single “Lights On," as the album the song was featured on took home Best R&B Album in 2017. Orabiyi also worked with Dua Lipa on her 2016 single “Last Dance," as well as with artists like Zendaya, Britney Spears and Khalid.

Orabiyi's family and manager confirmed his passing in an Instagram post over the weekend, sharing news of his death with "overwhelming sadness."

"Talay will fondly be remembered by those who knew him publicly for his incredible talent as a Grammy Award winning, multi platinum selling songwriter & artist," the post reads.

"For those that knew and loved him personally it is his humour, generous spirit and unmistakable presence that will be missed the most." The family noted that it was grateful for the positivity and support they've received since Orabiyi's death, and thanked fans for their "continued consideration and sensitivity at what is a devastating time for us all."

Orabiyi's Family, Friends React to His Passing

Orabiyi's brother and fellow musician Michael also wrote a social media post of his own to remember Mark.

"My heart is shattered! This doesn’t feel real. It feels like a bad dream. Just before he went to sleep we spoke about the future, staying positive and about everything we still had left to do. I never imagined that would be our last conversation," Michael Orabiyi, who works under the name Scribz Riley, said on Instagram.

"[Mark] wasn’t just my brother. He was my mother’s son, a friend to many, a mentor, an inspiration, and a light in so many people’s lives. He had one of the purest hearts I’ve ever known. He loved deeply, gave freely, and touched countless people through his talent, kindness, and spirit."

UK hip-hop star Stormzy said that he was sorry to hear of Orabiyi's passing, and others like Oritse Williams and Wretch 32 also offered condolences. "Your brother was a gem & will be missed & never forgotten," the latter said, according to the BBC.

Police say another victim, a 20-year-old man, is being treated for multiple stab wounds. His injuries are non-life threatening. Three people have been arrested in connection with the ongoing case, with a 27-year-old man released on bail pending further inquiries. A 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were released from custody with no further questions.

Rest in peace to Mark Orabiyi, and we send condolences to his friends, family, fans and loved ones during this difficult time.

Resident Alien follows an alien (played by Alan Tudyk) who crash-lands on Earth, and finds himself in the small town of Patience, Colorado, eventually taking on the human disguise of a medical examiner named Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle. While initially arriving on the planet with the intent of destroying all humans, the extraterrestrial finds himself quickly warming to what he once disliked about mankind, especially his kind-hearted assistant, Asta Twelvetrees (Sara Tomko).

Resident Alien ran for 4 seasons and 44 episodes on the Syfy network, from 2021 to 2025, with an impressive 94% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes upon its debut. The series arrived on Netflix in February 2024, debuting with the first two seasons of the show, introducing it to a whole new, as well as a far wider, audience.

The fourth and final season of the science fiction show landed on Netflix on June 6, and is looking to continue the trend of impressive viewing figures compared to its original home on Syfy. According to data accumulated by What's On Netflix, seasons 1-4 of the series accumulated 403.2 million viewing hours on Netflix between 2024 and 2025, equating to approximately 45.8 million views.

Back in August last year, it was confirmed that the fourth series would be the last, with high costs versus low viewership cited as the main reason for its axing, as Syfy reportedly searched elsewhere for new shows to bring in viewers.

As for a revival series, What's on Netflixhas reported that the streamer is unlikely to pick up the series for new episodes, pointing out that Netflix has abandoned its once-common habit of rebooting cancelled shows with a cult following.

Officially titled Earth, Wind & Fire (To Be Celestial vs That's the Weight of the World), the documentary tells the interesting journey of R&B and funk band, Earth, Wind & Fire. Per the official logline of the film provided by Warner Bros: 

“Acclaimed producer, director, and musician Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson tells the story of the legendary nine-time GRAMMY® Award-winning band Earth, Wind & Fire, tracing their genesis through late founding member Maurice White, chronicling their evolution, highs and lows, and relevance from the 1970s into the present day while exploring the deep philosophical and spiritual meaning behind their message and music.”

Viewers of the documentary can expect to see members of the band, Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson. Additionally, they’re joined by former band members, relatives, and legends in their own right, Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie. Oh, and President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle are also on hand to lend their commentary. 

In terms of reviews, they’ve been pretty stellar. Owen Glieberman of Variety noted, “Questlove tells the band’s story, and Maurice White’s story, in a way that’s at once thrilling and haunting.” Meanwhile, Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter stated, “The documentary recounts the band’s story in compelling fashion, with Questlove providing enough imaginative stylistic flourishes to prevent it from feeling like an extended Behind the Music episode.”

Ahead of their scheduled performance in Fillmore Philadelphia, Echo & the Bunnymen updated fans on social media. While McCulloch was traveling from the band’s last show in Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia, his vehicle was “involved in a road traffic incident.” The post continues, saying, “As a result, Ian required medical treatment. Thankfully, the injuries sustained are not believed to be serious; however, as you can appreciate, he has been left understandably shaken by the incident. As a precautionary measure, Ian is undergoing further medical assessment, including scans and X-rays.” The post did not provide any further details about the crash.

Due to the crash, Echo & the Bunnymen postponed their June 7 show. “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight's performance in Philadelphia. Postponing a show is always a last resort. We never want to disappoint our fans, and we know many of you will have made plans to attend this evening's concert.”

The band apologized for the delay and thanked fans for their understanding.  The post also made ticketholders aware that they would receive updates on what would be done “as soon as possible.”

There is no update on whether the tour will continue, but the band is still scheduled to perform in New York on June 8.

The Echo & the Bunnymen tour, 1978-2026, More Songs to Learn and Sing, started May 10 and is set to continue through June 19. The final stop of the tour is in Minneapolis. As of the writing of this article, most shows are sold out, except for June 16 in Detroit, Michigan, and the last show in Minnesota. Echo & the Bunnymen is performing what they say is “the very best” of their music.

Echo & the Bunnymen are a rock band from Liverpool, England, formed in 1978, that became influential during the post-punk era. The band is best known for ‘80s rock hits like “The Killing Moon” and “The Cutter.” They also were featured in the soundtracks for the films The Lost Boys, Donnie Darko, and Pretty in Pink.

The original members were McCulloch, Will Sergeant, and Les Pattinson.  Pete de Freitas joined in 1980 as their drummer and later died in a motorcycle accident in 1989.

McCulloch departed the band in 1988 to go solo, but the other three members continued working together. Following De Freitas’ death, Sergeant and Pattinson continued releasing music as Echo & the Bunnymen until 1993, when they officially disbanded.

The band reunited in the late ‘90s, though Pattinson left in 1999 for family obligations. Other members have since joined and left the band. McCulloch and Sergeant are the only two original members left.

Per Deadline, Season 3 concluded on quite a cliffhanger. "Having faked his death, Assane spent most of Part 3 living in incognito, while pulling off a series of high-stakes thefts in a bid to secure a safe and quiet life for his wife, son, mother, and best friend, before concluding that the only way was to sacrifice himself, and then turning himself in to the police."

Lupin Season 4 (or Part 4, if you please) will premiere on Oct. 23, 2026, only on Netflix.

Ray Parker Jr.’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Was Released on June 8, 1984, and Hit No. 1

On June 4, 1984, Ray Parker Jr.'s legendary pop song, "Ghostbusters," was released on the same day that the movie of the same name was. Since then, the song has gone on to hold such a special place in pop culture history that Discogs described it as "universally known" in an article about essential '80s soundtracks.

It only took a matter of days for it to become a hit as the track debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 16, 1984, and spent a total of 26 weeks on the chart. It hit No. 1 on August 11, 1984, and stayed on top for three weeks.

How a Last-Minute Gamble Birthed a 'Big and Silly and Memorable' Musical Masterpiece

The song's mammoth success was a miracle given that it was the result of a last-minute gamble by the team behind the 1984 movie Ghostbusters. After the studio tried to get Huey Lewis & the News to record the movie's theme song and they declined, the film's producers asked the mostly unknown at the time Parker Jr. to step in. Not only that, he was given very little time to record the unforgettable track. "Ghostbusters" later became the subject of an infamous lawsuit from Huey Lewis that was settled out of court.

Shortly after the end of the season, the Red Raiders would land one of the biggest talents in the transfer portal. Quarterback Brendan Sorsby joined Texas Tech after spending time at Indiana and Cincinnati, with many believing him to be the best player at his position in the portal.

Weeks after his commitment to Texas Tech, reports surfaced that Sorsby was under NCAA investigation pertaining to sports betting. The NCAA found that Sorsby had wagered approximately $90,000 on both pro and college sports over the last four years, including 40 bets on Indiana football while he was a member of the team.

The NCAA ruled Sorsby ineligible after these findings, and also rejected an appeal by Texas Tech for his reinstatement last week. On Monday, a judge presiding over the case made a ruling that could pave the way for Sorsby to play this season for the Red Raiders.

Brendan Sorsby Could Play for Texas Tech This Season

According to ESPN, Sorsby has been granted a temporary injunction that prevents the NCAA from punishing him for violating its sports gambling rules.

Judge Ken Curry ruled that Sorsby's attorneys sufficiently claimed that the player would suffer "probable, imminent and irreparable injury" if he is unable to play football this season.

The NCAA can appeal the ruling established on Monday, but the process could end up lasting through the 2026 season itself, potentially rendering another decision pointless.

"The NCAA strongly disagrees with the court's ruling in Sorsby's case and is deeply concerned about the damaging, far-reaching and broadly destabilizing ramifications of this outcome -- which undermines and corrupts the integrity of sports," the organization said in a statement following Judge Curry's ruling.

The NCAA is committed to supporting student-athlete mental health but must continue to aggressively defend against actions that defraud college athletics and threaten competitive integrity, such as betting on one's own sport."

Sorsby's Texas Tech Debut Could Come in September

Sorsby's counsel has argued that the NCAA ruled him ineligible without considering his well-being, citing gambling addiction as an issue the NCAA should work to protect players against due to the associated mental health ramifications.

The NCAA believes that it acted with Sorsby's best interest at heart, and that the consequences and precedent of his actions are not excused or outweighed by the mental health concerns.

Sorsby has acknowledged placing nearly 3,000 bets during his time at Indiana, and over 160 bets during his time as the starting quarterback at Cincinnati. He's also admitted to making bets while at Texas Tech, and says that he's sent over $65,000 to friends to cover bets made during his college career.

The NCAA notified Texas Tech of Sorsby's gambling history in April, and he entered an in-patient rehab program to address gambling and anxiety disorders that same month.

The conditions of Sorsby's reinstatement will likely cause him to miss the first two games of Texas Tech's season. We'll see if he makes his Red Raider debut at home in Lubbock on September 18 against fellow Big 12 opponent Houston.

Of course that is easier said than done. Much has to come together for any team to go on that type of run, including having the talent and health in place to do it.

A little luck doesn’t hurt whether you are Patrick Mahomes, Sam Darnold or any other quarterback to lead a team to the top of the football world. 

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Burrow revealed a change in approach he is taking to this offseason and shared some of the ways he tries to make sure he is in the best physical shape he can be — without overdoing it. 

Trying to get back to the Super Bowl 

Burrow saw first-hand five years ago what it takes to get to the biggest game of them all. 

In his second season with Cincinnati, the Bengals made a surprise run to Super Bowl LVI but came up just short against the Los Angeles Rams. 

Since then, Burrow has been trying to get the Bengals back in position to win it all. 

They came close in 2022 when they lost the AFC Championship Game rematch with KC, but the Bengals missed the playoffs the past three seasons. 

That leaves Burrow, his teammates and fans throughout Southwest Ohio hungry for a return to relevance this fall.

The Cincinnati front office has done its part, looking to rebuild a porous defense with a blockbuster pre-draft trade for star tackle Dexter Lawrence and signing safety Bryan Cook and linemen Boye Mafe and Jonathan Allen, among other moves since the end of last season. 

Burrow said he endorses what the front office has done — “I think we've had some good additions to hopefully bolster some positions that have been deficient in the past,” he told Men’s Journal* — and revealed the role he can now play in making those changes count. 

That includes making a big change on his end. 

Bridging the Relationship Gap

Putting the players in place is one thing, but winning football games also requires chemistry. 

As the starting quarterback, Burrow can play a major role in building team camaraderie, and he sees that as something he hasn’t done enough of in the past.

“Yeah, I can certainly be better in that area,” he said. “That's a point of emphasis for me. 

“This offseason I’m trying to build that team camaraderie a little more, and it’s a work-in-progress.”

That includes something as simple as eating lunch with a different group of guys on a given day. 

“I'm gonna consciously kind of get out of that mindset, and try to push myself out of my comfort zone and build some new and hopefully long lasting relationships.”

He also revealed that has been a bit of a blindspot for him in the past, in part because he moved a lot as a youngster whose father was a college football assistant coach.

“Yeah, building relationships has never been my strong suit,” Burrow said. “Change isn't exactly my favorite thing in the world. I moved around a lot when I was really little, and the thing that I always hated most about it was I had to make new friends. So it's certainly a challenge, but that's growing and evolving as a person, as a player and critically thinking about where you're at.”

Health has also been a big part of Burrow’s story — and typically not for the better. 

A hand injury set him back in his final season at Ohio State, though that also helped eventually lead him to LSU, where he won the 2019 Heisman Trophy and led the Tigers to the national championship.

In the NFL, Burrow suffered a torn ACL in his rookie season, missed most of the 2023 campaign with a wrist injury then saw last season derailed by a severe case of turf toe. 

While some injuries are unavoidable in a physical game like football, Burrow is like many athletes is very focused on what goes into his body as he is training and trying to maximize his physical readiness for another long football season.

“I'm feeling great. I'm feeling as healthy as I've ever felt, which is exciting for me. It’s been a while since I felt that way,” Burrow said. 

He hopes the focus on maintaining himself and his relationships in the locker room will lead to more wins this fall and help him reach another goal — to play football as long as he can. 

“A big part of that is how my body feels on the day to day,” he said. “Waking up and going to the bathroom, walking downstairs. And when my body feels good, my mind feels good. 

I'm able to push myself the way that I need to — to be in shape, to be strong, be fast and to put myself in a good position to be great.”

2026 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy 10, the first major title in the series built for the PlayStation 2, and the first one to have voice acting. The game was released on July 19, 2001, in Japan and would come to North America on December 18 that same year.

Final Fantasy 10 follows the story of Tidus and the world of Spira, as he is whisked away from his home of Zanarkand by a colossal, destructive monster known as Sin. He then embarks on a pilgrimage with summoner Yuna and her guardians to defeat the world-ending threat.

The game features turn-based combat with a twist: players can switch out their party members during battle, and also see the turn order, which allows players to strategize and adapt to the changing circumstances in battle.

According to Metacritic, the original release of Final Fantasy 10 sits at an impressive metascore of 92. Critics praise the game's combat, story, themes, characters, visuals, and soundtrack. There was some minor criticism directed at the game's linear environments and departure from using a world map like previous Final Fantasy games.

According to data from VGChartz, Final Fantasy 10 would go on to sell over 20 million units (when combined with its direct sequel, Final Fantasy 10-2), making it the best-selling game in the franchise.

He-Man’s Sword of Power has officially been passed down to a new generation. 

Masters of the Universe hit theaters this past weekend, with star Nicholas Galitzine stepping into the Mattel toy’s fur-lined boots for a new live-action adaptation of the popular ‘80s cartoon. 

The reboot comes nearly 40 years after Dolph Lundgren also played the famed warrior in the 1987 film of the same name. While the movie was a box office misfire, it’s gained a cult following in the years since, with Lundgren very much an important piece of the character’s legacy. 

So it should come as no surprise that Lundgren himself makes a cameo in the new film—and a pretty pivotal one at that! Speaking with Men’s Journal, both Lundgren and Galitzine open up about how his brief, but important, appearance came to be. 

Dolph Lungren’s Cameo Explained

The new movie finds young Prince Adam of Eternia sent to Earth with the Sword of Power by his parents, all so the evil Skeletor can’t obtain it for himself. Adam grows into a man on Earth, before he finds himself pulled back to his homeland, where he must try to stop Skeletor and Evil-Lyn’s quest for domination. 

Before he returns to his homeland, however, a less-buff and far less-confident version of Adam is seen hitting the gym. It’s there Lundgren’s nameless character approaches him while lifting weights, telling him, “You’re in my spot.” That, of course, is a nod to Galitzine taking over the role of He-Man.

It’s here that the mystery man also gives Adam some pretty important advice, telling him he needs to back himself and focus less on his outward appearance. The scene between Lundgren and Galitzine ends with Lundgren’s character wishing Adam a “good journey,” which is also a quote from the 1987 flick.

Dolph’s words of wisdom come in handy later, with Adam using that same advice later in the movie, when rallying the Eternian troops to take on Skeletor. It’s a lesson about believing in oneself, trusting the power within, and not relying solely on brute force.

How Dolph’s Cameo Came to Be

According to Galitzine and Lundgren, the two met for the first time about halfway through production on the new film. 

“I remember quite funnily, I must have thought I had some pretty smart ideas, but I mentioned to [director Travis Knight], I said, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could get Dolph in the movie,’” Galitzine recalled to Men’s Journal. 

“And he goes, ‘Nick, that’s a great idea. We’re already halfway down the road with it, you’re not the first person with this idea,’” he added with a laugh. “But I was so pleased we got to share a really great scene together. Dolph’s character bestows some incredible wisdom on my character, which is amazing.”

Per Lundgren, he wasn’t immediately sold on the cameo, going back to Knight with some suggestions after reading the initial pitch. 

“Obviously, I’d heard about this reboot for many years, different versions of it and finally there’s one that was happening and I knew was filming and there was a new guy for He-Man and they approached me,” Lundgren shared. 

“The idea that they had, I didn’t really like that much,” he admitted. “I thought about it and when I read the script, I remember at the end, there’s a quote at the end of the script about finding your inner power and being who you can really be, to be yourself. I thought, ‘That would be nice if I could deliver that message to Nicholas.’”

Lundgren relayed that to Knight, before the director and writers “came up with something very clever to do, in a humorous way.”

“I like the way it was done and the way he uses it later to rally his troops. It was really good,” Lundgren shared. “It was cool for me to be there, to meet Nick and kind of speak to a younger version of myself. Which I’ve never done. It’s weird to film. How do you prepare for that? It was a bit emotional. I really enjoyed it.”

Calling Lundgren an “icon is in own right,” Galitzine said it was just “surreal” to film a scene with him for the new movie. 

“I massively respect Dolph and everything he’s achieved,” said the young star. “I just was trying to take it all in and really, it’s such a pivotal scene for him, here’s this sage that’s bestowing him with his life advice. I hope I didn’t annoy you on the day, asking questions.”

Galitzine said he also appreciated the “kind of meta” approach to the cameo.

“Especially, how Adam is at the time, he recoils into himself when he sees this specimen before him,” he added of Lundgren. “He’s in complete awe. I love that part as well.”
