Saturday 3:30 PM: Michigan State at #7 Penn State
Michigan State nearly found a silver lining to their dreadful 2016, forcing national championship hopeful Ohio State to sweat out a one point victory last week. Now they take their crack at a Penn State team with similar ambitions, if a narrower pathway to the playoffs. The Nittany Lions' season has exceeded expectations and then some, but they are the team that no one outside of Western Pennsylvania wants to see competing against the likes of Alabama, Clemson or Michigan, who already beat them by five touchdowns earlier this season. They'll have to win this week and beat likely foe Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game to have any shot - a tall task indeed. Mike D'Antonio's Spartans are ready for a long winter's nap following a nightmare 3-8 season, but it would be nice if they could take the drama out of the proceedings with an upset in Happy Valley.
