Saturday, 7 PM: #4 Clemson at Wake Forest
Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson threw 70 times for an ACC record 580 yards against Pittsburgh, but also tossed up three crucial interceptions in what was ultimately a 43-42 upset loss. Watching the game, one sensed both that the Tigers were clearly the better team and also that they were bent on playing so recklessly that eventually they were going to lose on a last-second field goal by a kicker with the less than inspiring name Chris Blewitt, which is indeed what occurred. We've been down this road before with the Tigers, who were a short missed kick from losing to NC State and can't seem to harness their top-shelf talent week to week sufficiently to vouchsafe what should be an easy route to the CFP playoffs. Nevertheless, here they are still ranked in the Top Four and maybe they got it out of their system. Wake struggled admirably with Louisville a week ago, even leading 12-0 before Bobby Petrino probably stole their playbook, which makes sense. He's a lovely guy.
