Saturday 8 PM: #6 Wisconsin vs. #7 Penn State
Two very good, very highly ranked teams will face one another in the Big Ten championship game knowing that neither of them have anything more than a remote chance at making the playoffs even with a win. The Nittany Lions never fully recovered from the stigma of an early season loss to Pitt followed by an annihilation at Michigan, but they've won eight straight and defeated higher ranked Ohio State to burnish what is a very fine resume. If they beat Wisconsin and still find their playoff invitation gone missing, the grumbling from Happy Valley will be understandable. The 10-2 Badgers' fate was all but decided by back-to-back close losses against Ohio State and Michigan earlier in the year, but man alive, are they tough. The fact that they apparently have no road to the playoffs probably comes as a significant relief to the teams that are in. I expect them to impose their considerable will on Saturday night.
