Saturday, 8 PM: Hawaii Bowl Middle Tennessee vs. Hawaii
Some important things to know about the Hawaii Bowl include: Hawaii is in the Hawaii Bowl, which is weird on the one hand because they have a losing record at 6-7, but also comforting because it suggests order in a disordered world. This is their first postseason appearance in five years, and marks a positive start for first year coach Nick Rolovich. They aren't good exactly, but faced a rough schedule with games against Michigan, New Mexico, San Diego State, and Boise State, none of whom they came particularly close to beating. They did beat Air Force. Middle Tennessee is more the attraction here, another one of the small mid-majors who've done a lot with a little, going 8-4 with a win at Missouri and an epic one-point loss to my Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. They can score prolifically through the air and are a fun team to watch in a rare nationally televised spotlight.
