Ballplayer: Pelotero (2011)
Narrated by John Leguizamo, Ballplayer: Pelotero explores the MLB factory that the Dominican Republic has become, and the trials and tribulations players there face while trying to make it to the big leagues. The film follows two highly regarded prospects, Miguel Sano and Jean Batista, and their families, as they approach the date when 16-year-olds are eligible to sign. It's a sobering perspective, one that paints MLB as the bully trying to keep talent high and signing bonuses low. It's also the only movie on this list that will allow you to follow-up on the progress of its up-and-coming stars.
