The 8 Best Final Four Teams Ever

1984 Georgetown Hoyas

It can be difficult to remember just how staggeringly dominant John Thompson's Georgetown teams were during the 1980's. At one stretch they qualified for the Elite Eight six times in ten years, with three championship game appearances. That is remarkable, as is the number of terrific pros Thompson produced including Sleepy Floyd, Patrick Ewing, Dikembe Mutombo, Alonzo Mourning, David Wingate and Reggie Williams. The Hoyas of that era were known to be intimidating and even down right scary. The '84 championship team was the king hell mother of them all - so thoroughly talented and well coached that they didn't need to frighten their opponents in order to win, they just did it because they enjoyed it. Led by Ewing, the Hoyas marauded through a 34-3 campaign, vanquished their rival Syracuse in a bitter Big East final and ultimate defeated Hakeem Olajuwon's Houston team to win the championship. Rarely have menace and skill co-mingled so artfully.
