When the weather looks bleak and jumping in the car and going home is not an option, the Arc'teryx Men's Theta SV Jacket is just what you need. Using a combination of the new GORE-TEX Pro Shell fabrics, this bombproof jacket is your plate of armor against the roughest of storms. Polyester-faced 550 GORE-TEX 3-layer Pro reinforcements on the shoulders and elbows offer exceptional durability and water repellency. The helmet compatible hood excels in conditions where others would fade and the below hip length, drop back hem provides greater coverage in challenging weather. For those about to brave Mount Cook's screaming winds or Denali's notorious storms, the Arc'teryx Theta SV Jacket is worthy of serious consideration.
Well worth the price.
Great Shell. I backpack in the winter only and wanted a shell with out a floppy hood that I could also use as a ski jacket. My only regret is that the blue was no longer available in my size. Settled for the gray and the color is a bit darker than the photos which suites me even better. Fit is great for layering longer length, especially in the back. Hood will definitely fit any helmet and has more than enough adjustments if not wearing one and stows away in the collar nicely, Why Arctreyx discontinued this style is amazing to me, so happy to have purchased this when I could. Altrec was great, customer service excellent. Also a little warmer than I expected, dont get me wrong in winter a mid layer will be needed but more than comfy in fall and spring.
Super cool Jacket
If you want something comfy and tender, don't get this jacket. if you want a bomb proof piece of equipment that looks good and performs, this is it. great material, good design, and windproof and waterproof as hell. this thing is also SUPER light for its size, it has no lining other than the slightly softer material on the other side of the shell, and this is part of the reason for the light weight.
best backcountry ski jacket I have tried!
Arc'teryx sure know what quality stands for. sure it costs a little extra, but its worth it and more than that. My only small con is the hood. If you need a hood that goes in front of your chin go for the alpha jacket instead, since the rollups in collar hood in this one only covers half of the chin from sideways wind. Other than that you cant beat this one..
Another winner
Tried on the Theata SV jacket yesterday since it was raining, works great. Today got cold and windy (in NYC) and it blocks out everything. Didn't feel a thing. This jacket breaths and you'll be very comfortable. I am 5'7"; 170 lbs and the medium fits just fine. This is one good looking jacket. I am looking to buy more Arc'teryx stuff.
Finished test drive at Pajarito Ski Mnt
This jacket is comfortable for a broad temp range. It really is windproof. But since it is a thin, light shell, make sure you have something with some thickness to it as a layer underneath, which would be what is actually keeping you warm. I wore my Mnt Hardwear Trilogy underneath for the coldest days and was very content. Very happy and got a few compliments too. Very stylin jacket!
