Keen Mid Snow Boot
I could never have too many Keens - year 'round. I have 4 pairs of sandals, clog slip ons, 2 pairs of boots and love them all. You never have to break them in! ALTREC had a deal I couldn't refuse. Great boot! The "accent" on the toe takes me back to the days of KEDS with the rubber toe! A true "signature."

Better than what I expected!
I like this boot! It is easy to slip on and off. I just wish I would have gotten them a 1/2 size smaller than what I normally wear. These boots are comfortable and warm, just what I was looking for in a winter boot.

Great boot!
I bought these boots mainly for dog walking in the snow. I like them a lot! They are very easy to slip on, warm, grip the snow and ice well and they are cute! I have a little extra room in the size 6.5 then I typically do but that only allows for me to wear bulkier socks which is a good thing. The service from Altrec was also very good.

Nice, warm and comfy.
These boots are easy on and off for walking the dog in the cold. Nice looking, warm and comfortable as is usual with Keens. Could have been more snug in the heel but very nice overall.

Not what I expected, Hard to Pull On
Altrec shipping was, as always, faster than I expected - if it weren't for Altrec's service I'd have given up on Keen shoes by now. I've had a few pair that I loved, but those were discontinued and the new styles have never fit as well, and don't seem to be made as well. I normally wear an 8 1/2 tennis shoe, or an 8 wide dress shoe. Keen's 9 has always been much too big. These in an 8.5 feel very tight with a thin wool blend sock, though the 9 slipped a lot when I walked in them. They were extremely difficult to pull on (several minutes of tugging, with fuzz pulling off everywhere), and are making my feet ache all over, especially around my high arch. I'm not sure if the textile fabric will stretch as quickly as Keen's leathers usually do. Overall the shoe feels very narrow for a Keen, especially in the toe box. Keen's width is most of the reason I keep trying them first. Since the description says, "shearling which folds over for a more fashionable style", I'd expected you could wear the boots unrolled as well: It's possible, but it's very unattractive (the back of the cuff is flat cream fabric, it clearly looks "inside out" when turned up). The shearling was also marked with black, and with lots of red from the dye on the shoe. I had to cut many loose ends of threads as well, from hasty sewing. I was surprised the "Keen Warm" insulation goes only down as far as the ankle bone; there is little insulation at the toes. I'd ordered these because I work on a construction site where I wade through snow a few times per day, and the floors in our trailer are very cold. They aren't keeping my feet much warmer than my tennis shoes. They are cute under boot cut jeans, and because the snow is falling *now* I'll keep wearing them in hope they will "break in" and quit aching, but the tight fit is very surprising. I was happy to see that in this case, the "Madder Brown" was quite red, which hadn't been the case with other shoes in this color. (You may need to be aware of this, if you prefer their browner version of Madder Brown). The sole does seem nicely grippy, but the arch support is also flatter than other Keen shoes I've worn. There is definitely no room in the shoe to add a supportive insole either. For this price point ... I think it's time to step it up, Keen! The interesting concept and cute designs need to be backed up with better quality and fit.
