Great multipurpose jacket
This is quickly becoming my go-to jacket. I'm 5'11'' and 145 lbs with a 37'' chest, and a small fits great. It's windproof, waterPROOF, not just resistant, and warm down to about 45 degrees when still because of its nice fleece lining. It's light and pretty packable too. There's really no reason *not* to bring this jacket along when you're heading into iffy weather, since it's functional in so many situations. If it ends up not raining, well then it's still plenty good as an insulation piece. I wouldn't use it as a technical shell, since the body is cut kind of short, and the hood could stand to be roomier. It leaves my face a little bit exposed. If I were only allowed to bring one jacket on a trip, it would be this one. It's just such an incredibly versatile piece of gear. Highly recommended.
Good looking coat - not quite warm enough.
Like the coat but had to return it. It would be great for around town or out to dinner, but I noticed the wind goes right through it in sub 50 degreee temps.
Great all around jacket
Outdoor Research's Mithril jacket appears to be a well designed soft shell for wet and stormy winter conditions. Sizing feels similar to other OR products. I am 5'10", 145 lbs. and a size medium fits me perfect, except that the length was shorter then I prefer to allowing for adequate layering. All else said, a quality product at a reasonable price.
good quality, not right size for me
I am 5'9" 190 with muscular build and very broad shoulders. I ordered large and it was way too short(above belt buckle) Sleeve length was perfect so ordering up wouldn't work. Zippers were tight. I ordered black and it was very stylish but in the end it just didn't fit. First Outdoor Research product and am a bit disappointed. Maybe it's just was awkward size but 95% of every other brand fits nice in large.
