The Primus Trekklite Lantern (PTL) is a compact, lightweight 4-season lantern, ideal for backpacking. Its piezo igniter makes it easy to light in all weather.
Awsome Backpacking Lantern
The Review Above says it sounds like a jet, his must be broken! Mine is quiet, bright, small, light-weight, and durable.. Enough said...
Primus quality doesn't come cheap.
When purchasing any piece of equipment to add to your collection of camp or hike gear, choose only that gear which you know will last a long time. Recently when I decided to replace my older bulky Coleman lantern with a more compact one, the Primus line of compact lights came into view. After researching the various compact lanterns available the Primus PLT Trekklite stood out. Most of the Trekklite's features are just not offered on similar items. Piezo ignition, stainless/aluminum construction, and brass threads all fit in a compact package weighing around 9oz. I purchased the Trekklite here in Ontario. The PLT Trekklite being the lesser in cost of all the Primus line at about $75 Canadian. At about 9oz, this little lamp fits perfectly into any hiker's lifestyle. Being an avid interior camper myself I find this lamp to fit perfectly into my camping lifestyle as does the compact propane/butane fuel canisters that it uses. When night fell and it was time to turn on the Trekklite it never failed. With Piezo ignition the PLT lit everytime even in wind and rain. At 80W of lighting power this little lamp seems to put out more light than my old Coleman two mantle gas lantern. Perhaps the only set back to the Primus PLT Trekklite is that it sounds like a jet when lit... a constant hissing. But that's a little price to pay for the performance and quality that perhaps only the Primus Trekklite can offer.
