When super cool the black smooth side goes out to absorb solar heat and trap heat in the small internal baffles. As it solar heat intensifies flip the Mercurial inside out so the Schoeller aluminum silver fabric can reflect heat and allows cooling air to circulate around the baffle gaps. Keeping you not too hot and not to cold, this jacket features a classic Napoleon pocket, hand pockets, and elastic bound cuffs with hem cinchcord to block wind and snow.

Would definitely recommend to a friend
This jacket is really a pleasure to put on and keep on. It weighs next to nothing and feels like it would never have enough warmth when you first go out for a winter hike. Then you realize you're perspiring! I've used the reverse side only once and, as advertised, you feel a dramatic difference. Haven't packed it yet, but it is incredibly compressible. I'm kinda' short (5'7") so the "athletic" cut works great for me. At about 153 lbs. the small is a perfect fit.
