Want your own stylish piece of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Han Solo's jacket is up for grabs. After appearing in the latest installment and reprising his role as Han Solo, Harrison Ford is auctioning off the iconic wardrobe piece.
Beginning this week, fans can place their bids on the custom-made brown leather jacket that their favorite Millennium Falcon pilot wore onscreen. Beaten by the elements and signed in silver sharpie by Ford, this piece of cinematic history doesn’t come cheaply. Hoping to grab it for yourself? The starting bid was at $15,000, but at the time of this publishing, the price had climbed up to $34,000.
The best part? Proceeds will benefit the NYU Langone Medical Center and FACES, an organization funding research for epilepsy therapies and providing support for the epilepsy community. That organization correctly diagnosed Ford’s own daughter with the condition. “I’ve been very impressed with the work NYU and the FACES team have done in the field of epilepsy research, and I hope this jacket will provide some means to further that exploration,” Ford said in a press release. “This is a cause that’s near and dear to me, and unlike the cynical Han Solo, I’ve got a good feeling about this.”
For those hoping to get in on the auction, you have two weeks to battle it out before it closes on April 11. Of course, if you're more interested in wearing the jacket than sealing it in a glass case, you can buy a handmade replica in your own size (not Ford's) for about $1,300.
