Skip It: Antipollution Skincare for Toxins
What it is: This rapidly growing trend originated in South Korea, where air quality is a daily concern. These sprays and lotions promise to prevent harmful particles in the environment from interacting with your skin.
How it works: The ingredients are mostly anti-inflammatories and antioxidants, which treat potential side effects of polluted air (puffy or irritated skin), but there is little evidence to suggest they actually block the air-to-skin interaction.
Bottom line: While environmental toxins have been shown to speed up the aging process on skin, there is little evidence that these products can prevent this from occurring.
