One of Mountaineering’s Coolest Coats Just Turned 20. Here’s How J.Crew is Celebrating

Depending upon who you ask, the traditional 20th anniversary gift can be anything from new china to platinum jewelry. But when J.Crew wanted to celebrate the 20 years Marmot has been selling its Guides Hoodie, it went a slightly untraditional route and produced the iconic down-filled jacket in three new color blocked designs.

This week, J.Crew will start selling the jacket, which is usually available in one color, in teal-and-orange, light khaki and bright red, and navy with cerulean versions. Each will retail for $250, the same price as Marmot charges for the standard-issue versions of this not-so-standard jacket.

Other elements that will remain the same in the J.Crew version include its velcro cuffs (which allow you to block out any cold wind that might try to seep up your arm), zippered handwarmer pockets, and the 700-power fill down that has been keeping this jackets’ owners warm since the Carter administration.

A closer look at all three colors below.
