Named after the town in India where it originated, madras is a super lightweight and breathable fabric woven from delicate, short-staple cotton fibers that can’t be combed, resulting in its trademark bumpiness, or “slub,” to the cloth. It's recognizable by its bright colors and plaid pattern, a great summer work look for creatives and hipsters, but not so much Wall Streeters and lawyers.
