Carhartt Quick Duck Woodward Traditional Jacket
The beloved brand of tradesmen of every stripe, Detroit-based Carhartt has been synonymous with durable, long-lasting yet reasonably priced workwear for generations. Its latest Woodward Traditional Jacket is that rare clothing item that's rugged enough to satisfy even the burliest ironworker, yet would be comfortably at home in truly any guy's closet – without feeling like a stupid, ironic pose.
The Woodward is made from so-called Quick Duck – a 60-40 cotton polyester blend canvas fabric – which has all the durability of the original duck canvas that helped make Carhartt a brand, while still being 30-percent lighter. It also boasts a water repellent finish just like its forebear, only it dries in half the time – all while offering increased mobility. The inside is lined with a smooth, quilted nylon, and includes a zipped internal pocket as well as a rubber-lined media port, for threading earphones inside your coat instead of having the cord snag on everything. The Woodward is available in three colors, but our favorite is the graphite-y black, which pairs as easily with jeans as with khakis and everything in between. If only the rest of our clothes were so versatile (and affordable). [$130; carhartt.com]
