The West is Dead Basic Sweatshirt

The West is Dead Basic Sweatshirt

The problem: Sweatshirts, though versatile and appropriate for every season, are cut too short (remember your gym-class issue?). Our solution: the added length in this basic number from L.A.-based design collective The West is Dead. Made in the U.S. of reversible, 100-percent cotton, it's the most comfortable crewneck we've worn to date. The sweatshirt is close fitting, but not tight, so you won't feel constricted if you use one as a base layer while cycling to work, as we did a few weeks ago. And don't let "added length" scare you – the ribbed hem just keeps you from looking disheveled if you choose to wear one beneath a blazer (we say go for it). We took ours in washed indigo – it's available in seven colors – and wore it après-surf (September), over oxfords (October), and beneath down jackets (December). And while great in the field, it's admittedly at its finest where all sweats shine: On the couch, paired with cold beer and college football. [$155; thewestisdead.com]
