Whether it's a slick field coat, a just-flashy-enough hoodie, or a do-it-all waterproof jacket, the Southern California-based clothing company SLVDR's playful tops bridge the gap between Los Angeles formal and beach ready. The brand's new Willow shirt is a perfect example of the company's subtle insouciance. At first glance, it's a well-tailored, cotton oxford constructed for men with medium builds. Look again.
The Willow, which comes in a grayish "pepper" and light blue, pays tribute to SoCal's anti-corporate, Venice Beach streak with its quirky details. The shirt's button collar features a camouflage inner-lining, and SLVDR has ditched the traditional square chest pocket in favor of a far more stylish inverted V shape – accented nicely by a tiny dash of duck camo in the pen slot and a red S threaded through the button. It's a small enough dose of trendiness that it seems more urbane than urban.
Laid-back, conservative, and trendy, it checks all the boxes. This might as well be California's official button-down. [$130; urbanindustry.com]
