Dome Camping: Oz Farm in Mendocino County, California
Get off the grid and camp out in a dome on a certified organic farm in the redwoods north of San Francisco. You’ll have apples, pears, and other fresh produce at your fingertips on this 240-acre farm that relies on solar and wind power for its operations. While there, you can take yoga, tai chi, meditation, or cooking workshops. Or, if you’re craving more adventure, head about two miles away from the farm to a prime surf spot in northern California near Point Arena Pier, which is surrounded by a rugged coastline with lunar bluffs and sandstone. The farm’s domes are geodesic structures set on the south bank of the Garcia River, which runs through the farm. They can sleep as many as 10 people, and you can rent a dome for a long weekend for $1,300.
