Ski under the summer sun at Lake Tahoe.

The Lake Tahoe resort of Squaw Valley plans to remain open well into the summer for the first time in history thanks to record-breaking snowfall (more than 700 inches) this past January and February. That means you can spend your morning paddle boarding or kayaking in Lake Tahoe and your afternoon skiing in the hills up above it. Downhill access will continue through July 4, with operations limited to Saturdays thereafter as long as the snow lasts (perhaps all the way into the 2017-18 season!).

What's new? Record-shattering snowfall this past winter that was 250 inches above average.
