Chase Winter in Queenstown, New Zealand
There’s always one person in every group who can’t stand the thought of a sunny summer’s day at the beach. They’d give anything for winter to roll back around again with its crisp air, ephemeral snow and seasonal outdoor activities. Of course, if you travel south of the equator this June you can catch the start of the Southern Hemisphere winter as ski resorts in places like New Zealand re-open for the season. New Zealand’s most popular winter destination is the South Island adventure mecca of Queenstown, which boasts four major resorts within a close proximity. You can start the day carving paths down the Southern Alps at a resort aptly named The Remarkables and cap it off at a fire-lit restaurant overlooking the glacier-carved Lake Wakatipu. With wine caves, ice bars and craft beer halls, it can be hard to drag yourself out of bed in time to do it all over again the following day.
