Take a Discount Caribbean Vacation to the Virgin Islands
Summer may not seem like the ideal time to travel to the Caribbean, but June actually falls in a sweet spot between the winter-spring high season and the summer-fall rainy period, with tropical disturbances still a month or so away. Thus, you have the perfect recipe for great weather and bargain-basement prices at resorts desperate to fill empty rooms. The U.S. Virgin Islands, which doesn’t require a passport for entry, is the easiest destination for American travelers. However, each of the three main islands offers its own unique style of vacation. St. Thomas is the most populated of the pack, with family-friendly resorts, great dining and plenty of sportfishing opportunities. Sleepy St. Croix sees the fewest tourists but offers the best scuba diving with a 13,000-foot wall dropping just off its northern coast. Meanwhile, St. John is largely protected as a national park with a dozen hiking trails and world-class snorkeling off its northern and eastern beaches.
