Stylus Tough 8000
By Dacus Thompson
With stainless steel and aluminum exteriors matched with the interior rubber gaskets to seal out the elements, Olympus’s Stylus Tough 8000 is the camera to take down the Colorado. Because the chassis was poured as one piece and has a wetsuit-like neoprene coating, it can be slammed against rocks, dunked in 30 feet of water, and used as a footstool by a 220-pound man-and will still snap crystal-clear shots. Plus, the Camera’s 12 megapixels and 3.6 wide-angel optical zoom make it excellent for everyday use ($399; olympusamerica.com).

The nikonos is the worlds toughest camera …. any of the 5 models that were made. The olympus maybe the worlds toughest “digital” camera but it can’t touch any of the nikon nikonos models in toughtness….

Sounds like just the camera I need – going mountain climbing in Wales soon so knowing the weather and terrain this might be perfect!
