Bike and Hike Park City, Utah
With three ski resorts and the Sundance Film Festival, Park City is swarmed all winter. But in summer, “locals come out in force,” says Scott House, communications director for Jans, an outdoor store and guide service. The town’s citizens routinely tax themselves to fund trails, and the payoff is nearly 400 miles of singletrack ranging through sagebrush desert, aspen groves, and alpine meadows. Another summer perk: There’s plenty of room in Park City’s exceptional restaurants and bars. “Sammy’s Bistro and Bistro 412 are great spots — reasonably priced food, high quality, and super-mellow,” says House. Or splurge at High West Distillery, which has great local whiskey, bison, and trout.
