Your daily diet may have a bigger impact on the environment than you may think. According to Greenpeace, raising livestock generates the same amount of greenhouse gases as cars, trucks, and all other automobiles combined.
Much of food related greenhouse gas emissions (78%) are a result of the production of animal products. In fact, 24,000 gallons of water are used to produce one pound of beef whereas only 25 gallons are needed for a pound of wheat. Reducing the amount of meat you consume on a weekly basis is not only beneficial to your health, but can greatly benefit the planet.
If you’re not ready to go full vegan or vegetarian, try adopting a “Meatless Monday” as part of your weekly routine or simply cut down the amount of meat you consume on a daily basis.Back to top
