22. Horsehead Moor and Deepdale, Yorkshire Dales National Park, England (5.5 miles)Learn More
A collection of stunning river valleys in northern England, the Yorkshire Dales comprise some 700-square-miles of moorland, blanket bog, rolling hills, ancient stone walls, waterfalls, and unique limestone pavements that make for agreeable walking. A gentle loop of Horsehead Moor and Deepdale climbs an open, grassy slope to a remote hogback crest that’s essentially the geologic backbone of England. Before returning along the River Wharfe, you’ll get panoramic views of the Yorkshire countryside, including the famed Three Peaks of the Pennine Range: Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent, each over 2,300-feet high.
