Brooklyn Bridge – New York City
The Brooklyn Bridge spans the East River between the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City. First opened in May of 1883, the massive bridge was the first fixed crossing across the East River. Not to mention, that at the time of its completion, it was the largest suspension bridge on the planet, with a main span of 1,595.5 feet and a deck located 127 feet above the water. It was first named the “New York and Brooklyn Bridge” or the “East River Bridge” but was officially renamed the “Brooklyn Bridge” in 1915.
