Warren Wilson College (Asheville, North Carolina)
Life here is balanced between academics, work, and service — a school philosophy known as The Triad. Students split time between pitching in on the campus farm, volunteering in the community, and taking lectures on sustainable forestry or environmental policy. It’s a small school, with just 900 students, so faculty-to-student ratios are great, with an average of 10:1. And wild projects, like mapping previously unknown parts of Panama or finding new species within Great Smoky Mountains National Park, are highly encouraged.
