The Loyak is extremely lightweight and low volume, with a thin sole that will fit in just about any boat, even if you have gigantic feet. Astral’s G.15 rubber provides top-notch traction that I’ve never seen before on such a low-volume shoe. So for those who struggle to fit into their playboats with footwear, this could be the option you’ve been looking for. They are so thin that I feel almost like I am barefoot, which also makes them nice for standup paddle boarding. I love having them around when I am at a park and play wave or a slalom course.
I took the Loyaks with me to Skookumchuck, where slippery rocks and sharp barnacles demand a great playboating bootie.
Fit: The Loyaks are true to size but are a little bit narrow. Beware if you have particularly wide feet.
I definitely won’t take the Loyak creekboating any time soon, but it is a game changer for playboating and SUPing.
