There are no overrated players – just redundant ones.
If a team has three players that show up in the same section of his model, Alagappan says, it might be good to cut one or two of them loose. “That’s what I consider overrated – players who fill the same role as another player on the same team,” he says. “LeBron James and Dwayne Wade are adjacent to each other in the network. Obviously, you can win a championship with them both on the court, but according to the model you may not be making the most efficient decision if you sign both of them to your team.”
