The Canary Islands are one of those destinations that tends to fly under the radar of the SUP spotlight. The waves there are burly, the water big, the slabs more savory than hunks of Grade-A sirloin and the necessity for local knowledge paramount. The locale’s curious reputation absolutely proceeds itself, as does that of its most barreled hard-charging SUP hellman, Vilayta, who’s achieved local legend status inside the gaping tubes of his Canary Island home front.
