Down Jackets Review: Brooks-Range Mojave

Brooks Range Mojave Down Jacket, Darin McQuoid Review

Brooks-Range Mojave Down Jacket: 15.4oz

When the weather is cold I always reached for the 800 fill power Brooks-Range Mountaineering “Mojave Down Jacket”. This $299.95 jacket is the only jacket in the review that could be described as puffy. Where its 15.4oz total weight comes from is obvious; down fill. This size medium jacket has as much fill as the others do in a size large, thus it’s no surprise that this is the warmest jacket in the test. There are two zippered fleece lined exterior pockets and an internal zippered chest pocket. The Mojave doesn’t pack into its pocket, nor does it have any large interior pockets for goggles or other bulky items. For wind protection it has an elastic drawstring with friction stoppers at the hem and the hood, while the wrists have elastic cuffs that can be tightened with velcro, making this already warm jacket the most wind resistant too.

Best for: Cold weather, people who chill easily.
