Reynolds Plantation (Greensboro, Georgia)
If your game needs work, Reynolds is the place to do it. Of its six courses on Lake Oconee (five public, one private), several are friendly to high handicappers. With gently rolling terrain and plenty of men’s tees below 6,000 yards, you don’t have to be a big hitter to get around the Plantation or National courses. And if you want some coaching before you start hacking, the Reynolds Golf Academy offers private lessons and three-day golf schools for all skill levels (including for kids). “We’re not here to wow you with fancy golf-speak,” says Charlie King, who’s helmed the academy for seven years. “Our goal is to take out the mystery, to clearly communicate the basics and get them into your game. Those remain the same whether you’ve been playing forever or are just starting out.” Since a good set of sticks benefits not-so-good swings, Reynolds also has one of only two TaylorMade club-fitting facilities worldwide. Thanks to motion-capture technology, your clubs will be custom-built to your exact specs right there.
