Sit-On-Tops For Two: Hobie Mirage Oasis

Hobie Mirage Oasis

The most innovative tandem we tested, the Mirage Oasis can be powered by pedals, kayak paddles, plug-in eVolve electric motor, or by sail. At 14′-6″ long this one to two person kayak is fast, versitile, and is ideal for fishing, extended day trips, or casual paddling. Two Hobie Mirage Drives drop into each foot well to move the boat efficiently using pedal power. Instead of a propeller, Mirage Drives are vertical fins similar to a penguin’s flipper placed under each person that propel the kayak, fast, with minimal effort. Imagine fishing with both hands while simultaneously moving the boat forward. Two adjustable high-back seats with inflatable lumbar support allow for comfortable all-day paddle trips. If you’re fishing, stow your pole in two molded rod holders and your live bait in the Hobie Livewell container, which attaches behind the rear seat. Three 8-inch Twist and Seal hatches, a recessed gear well, and a covered gear bucket give plenty of options for keeping your extra gear and clothing dry. Mesh stowage pockets lining by your legs provide additional storage. ($2,749,—Rob Casey
