Men’s Fitness online director Mike Simone is headed to Vail, CO, to compete in the GoPro Mountain Games—a grueling test of endurance comprised of a 2.5-mile kayak, 7K obstacle run, and a 14-mile mountain bike ride. The kayak and obstacles sound challenging, for sure, but at least doable. The mountain bike leg? Notsomuch, especially since Mike hasn’t been on a bike in 15 years. That’s where the Cannondale team comes in. Mike heads to Connecticut, where the premiere bicycle manufacturer is headquartered, to get fitted for a bike and squeeze in a lesson. “So I don’t completely kill myself [at the Games],” Mike says. And just in case you were in the market for a wheel upgrade, we’ve included a bonus segment with Peter Vallance, Cannondale’s global director of product management, to help you choose the right bike for your budget and skill level. How does Mike do at the GoPro Mountain Games? Stay tuned in the coming weeks to find out.
