After the first heat of the Men’s 2018 Jaws Challenge, the World Surf League (WSL) put the contest on hold due to the waves being too large for paddle-in surfing. Instead, a heavy freesurf tow-in session ensued that you have to see to believe.
The #jawschallenge is off for the today. Next call tomorrow morning at 7am HST. Commissioner Mike Parsons: “The conditions aren’t favorable considering the safety of our surfers are number one priority.” Watch the freesurf live on https://t.co/ie0ZfNdmHw, WSL app, or WSL Live pic.twitter.com/3vT09xf6ZQ

Surfers that are being towed into 65-foot waves and are putting on an absolute show.
In comparison to paddling into big waves on a big board, being towed in and surfing on a smaller tow board allows elite-level big wave surfers additional mobility and speed. Thus, giving them the ability to surf like absolute maniacs.

You can watch the mayhem go down on the official 2018 Jaws Challenge feed.
