When you're doing a breathing class with #WimHof (@iceman_hof) on #FridayThe13th under a #NewMoon and Mercury is heavily in #Retrograde and you pass out and fall on your face, start dreaming and wake up wondering where tf you are and why does your face feel like you just got tackled on the football field and somebody was filming it all…but you think it's funny. 😀 @kalanimiller @khalilrafati #WimHofMethod @sunlifeorganics
Yesterday, Kelly Slater gave us all a glimpse of his interesting training regime, which apparently involves the risk of passing out.
He was doing breathing exercises with the “Iceman” Wim Hof in Malibu, California, when he fainted.
He said it felt like his face had just been tackled.
“You knocked yourself out,” Hof told Slater in the short clip.
Hof teaches classes that link breath with concentration, something he said helps him withstand extremely cold temperatures.
He hosts a number of breathing retreats and preaches the benefits of exposing yourself to cold temperatures.
Slater dropped out of the Oi Rio Pro which is going on now in Brazil citing personal reasons.
According to Hof’s website, he is able to hold his breath for six minutes.
That could come in extremely handy for Slater when surfing giant waves that can hold a person under for minutes.
In order to attend the retreat over the weekend, participants had to have been practicing Hof’s methods for at least six weeks so don’t try this at home kids!
