Meet the women of SURFING’s Swimsuit Issue: Tia Blanco

What do you get when you combine world-class surfing abilities with stunning good looks? As the 2016 SURFING Swimsuit Issue found out, you get Tia Blanco, the 18-year-old up-and-coming surfer currently attempting to qualify for the Samsung Galaxy Women’s Championship Tour (while moonlighting as a part-time model).

SURFING flew Blanco along with Malia Manuel, Nikki Van Dijk and Coco Ho out to the British Virgin Islands to showcase not only how good they look in swimsuits but also how well they shred.

“I would say the major difference for me between this trip and previous trips is that the girls on this trip are like my role models,” Blanco said of her fellow surfers. “So it’s a huge pleasure and honor to be surrounded by them and surfing with them.”

Blanco says modeling can be awkward for her at times. We, respectfully, disagree.

And while Blanco claimed it was hard for her to get comfortable on the shoot because she isn’t a full-time model and wasn’t used to people constantly taking photos of her, the results of her shoot seem to tell a different story.

So check out the new video from SURFING introducing you to the San Diego-based beauty and her surfing. Chances are you’ll be seeing a lot more of her in the future.
