According to The Blast, the former heavyweight champ and two business partners (Robert Hickman and Jason Strommen), are going far beyond opening a simple dispensary. Instead, they’re setting up a 40-acre facility called Tyson Ranch about 60 miles southwest of Death Valley. Half of the parcel of land will be devoted to helping growers create new strains, and to researchers who want to dig deeper into the medicinal benefits of marijuana use.
The rest of Tyson Ranch will house an amphitheater, an factory for making edibles, an extraction facility, and higher-end camping grounds. (See what we did there?) There will, of course, also be a dispensary on site.
Hickman told The Blast the partners were drawn to the space because in California “undeveloped lands are primed to be cultivated.” No opening date has been set just yet, but watch this space. An elevated destination for cannabis consumers might just be the next big wave in travel.
