Skateboarding with magnetic skateboard wheels looks strangely satisfying

For their latest episode of “You make it, we skate it” the Braille Skateboarding crew gets wheels sent to them made of neodymium magnets.

Neodymium magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnet commercially available. As you’ll see in the episode, they are extremely difficult to pry apart from metal objects and even include gloves for safety.

The skate test goes better than expected in the mini bowl with some coping action, and even gets doable on the ledge with the coping. But, being fragile magnets, one of them shatters before they can give the rail a try.

We’ll never know if these neodymium magnetic wheels could’ve been skateable on a rail, but maybe the Braille crew will get some more made and finish the test.
