SUP Original | Spencer Lacy and the New Frontier of River SUP

Of all the daring standup paddlers charging whitewater these days, Colorado’s own GoPro Mountain Game champion Spencer Lacy is pushing boundaries on the frontier more than any. Hence the reason why you’ll find Lacy on the cover of our new Winter Issue, which is dedicated to exploring the progress of standup paddling in every sector from big-wave surfing to first-ascents to putting SUP on the map in uncharted waters. With the release of this issue comes also our latest video project—a compilation of Lacy’s best whitewater runs in 2016—a bold testament to the massive progress river SUP saw this year. But the frontier doesn’t stop there. Inside the new issue you’ll also find a features on a source to sea first-descent in British Columbia, a story from the first SUP descent of Utah’s deserted Escalante River and a profile on the growing presence of standup paddling in the world’s big-wave scene. It’s the frontier, ladies and gentlemen. And we’ve arrived.
