SUP Surfing Irma’s Front-running Swell

Before the hurricane, there were waves. Paddlers capitalized on the front-running forces of Hurricane Irma, which first arrived in the form of finely groomed peaks atop tropical reef for surfers on America’s Atlantic coast to enjoy. Now, the very coastline fringing the reef in the unknown paradise pictured here is likely to be devastated. There’s not a lot of good to come from natural disasters, but safe to savor the special moments of the calm before the storm. Here’s to making the best of a bad situation.
