Pro surfer and filmmaker Mikey DeTemple splits his time in New York between Brooklyn and Montauk. DeTemple is a rare creative breed who exudes just as much prowess in the water as he does behind a lens. Anytime there is surf in New York, he’s on it.
He’s also lived with a pacemaker for the last 15 years and endured 6 heart surgeries. Which would probably cause others to give up and quit surfing in the middle of freezing winter. Not DeTemple.
During a recent blizzard, DeTemple brought got to show just what it’s like to surf in the middle of a snow storm in New York City.
The short film captures just how quick you need to make the call when swell hits. And DeTemple certainly takes advantage of it.
