Murray’s Backhand
Andy Murray’s two-handed backhand is compact, crisp, powerful, and incredibly accurate. He also hits most of them fairly flat, with little margin for error over the net. His timing is so good, he can get himself into perfect position for a high-risk shot and execute it.
The lesson: Add more height and spin to your backhand than Murray, but otherwise study his mechanics closely. “I like how simple his stroke is,” Macci says. “There’s not a lot of wrist; it’s one fluid swing. He’s always balanced when he hits the ball.”
